Fine magenta bands run the length of this ivory pink stripe floor sofa, spaced across a raw, undyed wool ground. Look closely and the lines sit gently off-square — the quiet signature of hand-loom work rather than a machine. Moreover, the weft-faced surface stays cool and firm to the touch. Nothing here has been smoothed into uniformity.
Berber weavers produce this hanbel on narrow wooden looms, packing the weft so tightly that no warp shows through. Because the weave is flat rather than piled, it lies thin, light and reversible. Wool takes the magenta dye deeply, so the bands hold their intensity through years of daily use. Hand-stitched seams then finish every edge and corner.
