Depending on the age of your rug and its shedding tendencies, use a vacuum cleaner regularly to remove dirt and dust. We recommend using the vacuum on the lowest suction setting first, and then advancing to higher suction to see what the rug can withstand. This will help prevent damage to fibers.
An alternative way to clean your rugs is to take it yours outside, hang the rug vertically and give it a good beating with a broom handle.
2. What to do if your moroccan rug loses pile:
Shedding can be common with wool rugs, especially if they are newly manufactured, while older vintage rugs tend to lose less pile.
It is not unusual for a new high pile Moroccan rug to shed, and a good quality rug should diminish over time. If a rug does shed,brush it gently with a dog brush to remove excess fibers..
3. Delay Washing:
Avoid washing your wool rug immediately after receiving it. We wash or clean our rugs before joining our stock, and we do another cleaning before shipping to be sure that you will receive the rug clean and you will not need to wash it for 3 or 4 years. It’s generally recommended to wait for a few years before washing it. This allows the rug to settle, and the shedding to reduce, ensuring a longer life to your rug.

When it comes time to clean your woolen rug, always use cold water. Hot water can cause the wool fibers to shrink and lose their natural texture. Cold water helps to maintain the integrity of the fibers while effectively cleaning the rug.

6. Proper Drying Technique:
After washing, resist the urge to wring excess water from the carpet. Instead, hang it up and let it drip for a few minutes. Next, lay it out on a clean surface in sunlight. This drying process helps maintain the shape and color of the rug.
7. Mindful Sun Exposure for Colored Rugs:
If your woolen rug is colored, avoid exposing its face directly to the sun. Prolonged sun exposure can cause fading and damage to the vibrant hues. Opt for shaded drying areas to preserve the richness of the colors.
